Rosanna Peng
Meet Rosanna Peng, a filmmaker from Vancouver
What does your morning routine look like?
Waking up early, hopefully fitting in a workout before the emails hit.
Where do you look for inspiration?
My source of inspiration is trying something new for the first time. I want to keep exploring my art through different mediums such as photography, painting, writing, maybe even dance! I want to retain the fun in learning and growing in my craft.
What has been the biggest challenge on your journey?
Overcoming my fear of public speaking and social anxiety to direct a room full of people has been an on-going challenge. I'm not complaining though, it's one of the reasons why I chose to focus on directing. My journey has always been about self-improvement.
How do you define success? What are the goalposts you look out for?
Success is peace. When I say peace, I don't mean retired and not working. I mean despite however busy I get, I am grounded and I find peace in doing good work.
What work are you most proud of?
I'm most proud of the projects I got to work on with my friends. It creates a safe space for everyone to experiment without judgement. I also love hyping my friends up and vice versa!
Whats the best advice you’ve gotten from someone?
You don't quit at something before you get good at it. - Jeremy Lee
Who is someone that has helped you get to where you are now? How were they impactful?
Since moving to LA, my good friend, Ja Tecson, has been an immense resource to me. I've always been used to creatives being competitive and possessive over their connections and information -- this is the exact opposite for Ja. I strive to be as open as he was for me to others.
What's the last thing you bought with cash?
Mochi and Kimbap from H -Mart
